All-day Summer Open House on June 17 features live music, yoga, art projects, family activities, free food and more
Nashville, Tenn. – After months of improvements, renovations, and community-led curation of year-round programs and events for Church Street Park, the Nashville Downtown Partnership unveils the new lineup of activities at downtown’s oldest pocket park during an all-day open house on Saturday, June 17.
Located in the heart of the heart of downtown directly in front of the Main Library, Church Street Park has long been a “diamond in the rough” with tremendous potential. Under a 2022 agreement with Metro Parks to operate and activate the park and with funding from Amazon to underwrite daily programming, the Nashville Downtown Partnership is honored to reintroduce the tiny but mighty community jewel to Nashvillians and visitors alike.
“Downtown Nashville is more than just an entertainment hub. It is a community, a neighborhood and home where people work, live and play. Church Street Park is an essential part of that. It is a wonderful space for residents and visitors alike to relax, visit and enjoy. New and enhanced programming from the Downtown Partnership will make Church Street Park an even more valuable asset to our downtown community,” said Mayor John Cooper.
“Unlike other Metro parks, Church Street Park is unique: A green oasis in a rapidly developing downtown neighborhood, it can effectively and equitably serve as a shared green space for 16,500 downtown residents, 78,000 downtown workers, and millions of visitors,” said Tom Turner, President and CEO of the Nashville Downtown Partnership. “With infrastructure investments, upgrades, staffing and daily programming, it can be exactly that.”
Daily programming is already well underway, making the June 17th Church Street Park Open House the perfect opportunity to experience a sampling of the Park’s summer offerings at one time. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the public is invited to drop in for nonstop family-friendly fun and to sample the Park’s diverse programs, which are offered free-of-charge year-round and rotate seasonally.
Activities will include live music, yoga, art projects, our popular Recess Cart with chess and other games, Music and Movement Story Time with the Nashville Public Library, and much more.
In addition, since many of the daily programs are convenient for downtown workers to enjoy before or after the workday, the Church Street Park team has organized a special "Work Perks in the Park" preview event on Friday, June 16. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone who works downtown is invited to come to their neighborhood park for free coffee, free lunch, and free live music to learn all about the Park’s summer schedule.
